'The Crafty Witch' Arts and Crafts.

Made with lots of Love, and a little bit of Magic, in the shadow of Pendle Hill.

Hello, and many thanks for coming  to check out my site.

I am always in the process of creating new boxes, books, or works of art to put on my pages, so please keep coming back to check on them regularly!  Thank you so much for your interest.

My name is Jill McDonald-Constable.

I live in the shadow of the famous (infamous!) Pendle Hill, site of the Pendle Witches. For many years and many reasons, my family and friends have jokingly called me a witch, so living where I do, what better name could I have for my site?

I have been 'making Art', and writing since I was at school. ( A long time ago!) I have worked in a few jobs that required me to be able to use my artistic skills, in particular, as a window dresser for two large stores in Blackburn. I also taught Art and Crafts at Accrington College to various groups of people, and for some time, also gave private art lessons to a few teens in their own homes.

I returned to Education as a 'Mature Student' doing the Art I love, and was pleased to get a BTEC in Art and Design. I then achieved a B.A. (Hons) in Cultural Studies. I quickly followed that with an M.A. in my other lifetime passion, Writing,  (it is a Writing Studies M.A. a cross between English Literature and Creative Writing). I have since had nine books commercially published both here in the UK and in the USA. (See the page My Books) I have also self-published a book of poems.

I also taught Creative writing at evening classes with Accrington College, and am still involved in this today, with groups connected to the U3A (University of the Third Age.)  This is a nationwide group, and dedicated to anyone, of any ability who is over the age of fifty. They have a variety of groups within their umbrella, such as walking, music, art, and, of course, writing. They have regular meetings with invited speakers, and a lot of fun!

As for my Art and Crafts, I work in a selection of mediums. If you look around the site you will see - trinket boxes, gift boxes, fabric art, papercraft, jewellery, and wall art, amongst other things. I have a variety of abstract and mixed media pieces with subjects ranging from fairies and unicorns to Gothic, Steampunk, Witchy, Hippie, and my favourite, Dragonflies! Many items can be personalised. I am working on increasing my stock most days.  Taking a blank canvas/paper, or plain white wooden box, and turning them into completely different objects, gives me a great deal of satisfaction, and I believe this shows in my work.

For very personal reasons, a percentage of the price for my works will be donated to The Lewy Body Society. This Society exists to help people with a thing called Dementia with Lewy Bodies, which can affect anyone over the age of 50 and is characterised by often terrifying hallucinations, both visual and auditory. There is not enough information about this type of Dementia, and much more research is needed, so I thank you very much, in advance, for your purchase.

I am also trying to do my little bit to help with the recycling problem, so when you receive your purchase, you may notice some of the packaging has been re-used.

I will occasionally also purchase small, old, wooden boxes, etc, and work at upcycling them into new, more exciting products.

Please, do have a good look through my pages, and if you would like me to create something a little more personal for you, or a loved one, I probably can. Give it some thought, because names can also be added to many of the items I have on here. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have an idea you would like me to work on. After all, you don't know what I can do until you ask!

Please don't hesitate to give me a call on - 07983 765579
